Noteworthy Items: (1) Massillon finished as the Division II state runner-up for the second year in a row after losing to Cincinnati LaSalle, which captured its fourth D2 state title. In the regional finals, Massillon avenged a 2018 state finals loss to Akron Hoban with a 17-14 victory. (2) During the regular season, the Tigers defeated a pair of Pennsylvania playoff qualifiers in Harrison City Penn-Trafford (42-21) and Monroeville Gateway, PA (48-12). (3) Massillon scored a touchdown in each of its first five possessions and cruised to a 35-7 playoff victory over Massillon Perry. (4) The Tigers extended their regular season winning streak to 21 (4th best all-time) and turned in back-to-back undefeated / untied seasons for the first time since 1964-65. (5) Eleven players were awarded all-county, eight all-district and nine all-state, all school records (6) Quarterback Aidan Longwell set Massillon career passing records for yards (7,705), attempts (795) and completions (484). A season record was set for pass efficiency (186.5). Longwell also set the record in the game against Gateway for the longest pass reception with a 95-yard TD toss to wide receiver Jayden Ballard. (7) Ballard tied the season record for touchdowns receiving (18). He also set new career records for touchdowns receiving (32) and yards per punt return (21.8). (8) Kicker Alex Bauer set season records for PAT kicks made (81) and PAT kicks attempted (83), and a career record for field goal percentage (81.3). (9) Linebacker Caiden Woullard set a season record for tackles for loss (18). (10) Backup quarterback Zach Catrone holds the record for career pass completion percentage (61.2). (11) Running back Terrance Keyes, Jr., rushed for 1,592 yards, 3rd all-time season best.
