Noteworthy Items: (1) Massillon defeated Perry 27-6 in the first of six consecutive openers vs. the Panthers. (2) The Tigers preserved an unbeaten season with two 4th quarter TDs against McKinley, winning 13-10. (3) Although unbeaten, Massillon failed to qualify for the playoffs due to a weaker than average schedule and only one team per regional qualifying at that time. (4) Quarterback Brent Offenbecher later started first for Wake Forest and then for Ohio State.
