Noteworthy Items: (1) The Tigers were behind Canton McKinley at the half 14-0, mimicking that of the previous year. The final score, however, was 18-14, with Massillon wrapping up a perfect season, a consecutive state title and another 2nd in the national poll. It was also the 9th straight victory over the Bulldogs. And it was Coach Earle Bruce’s 43rd consecutive career win. (2) Following the season, Bruce accepted an assistant coaching position with The Ohio State University. Later coaching stops would include head stints at Tampa, Iowa State and OSU.
