Top Games for Week 3

NFL Academy (2-0) at Massillon (2-0) – This is the second of two Nike Elite games.  Last week NFL defeated Akron Hoban, 28-13.  Massillon cruised by Canton GlenOak, 54-7.  The NFL team is huge and much improved from the 2024 team that lost to the Tigers in Oregon, 35-21.

Canada Football North (2-0) at Cleveland Glenville (1-1) – North has outscored it two opponents by an average of 55-10.  Glenville is coming off a big 34-13 win over Olentangy Liberty, a team that Lakewood St. Edward defeated in the last minute of the game, 15-12.  This should be a good one.

Mentor (2-0) at Cleveland St. Ignatius (1-1) – Mentor is looking once again to post a good record against mediocre opponents.  St. Ignatius is somewhat improved this year and last week defeated Pickerington North, 24-21.

Eagle Academy, NY (1-0) at Akron Hoban (0-2) – A young Hoban team needs a break and will get it this week, after losing to an average Florida team and being handled last week by NFL Academy.

Toledo Central Catholic (2-0) at Walsh Jesuit (2-0) – A classic in the making.  Both teams are vying to win their respective playoff regions.  Walsh owns a 34-0 win over normally good Medina Highland.  Central defeated also normally good Trotwood Madison, 27-9.  One of these teams will come out of the game looking pretty good.

Avon (1-1) at Upper Arlington (2-0) – Avon was thrashed last week by Pennsylvania No. 7 team Pine-Richland, 48-18, after a 1-point win over St. Ignatius the week before.  Upper Arlington has had it easy up to now.

Columbus Watterson (2-0) at Youngstown Ursuline (1-1) – Is Watterson that good?  We will find out a little more this week when they bring their vaunted defense to Youngstown.  Ursuline lost a one-sided game in Week 1 to Columbus DeSales, which is certainly beneath Watterson.

Pickerington North (1-1) at Pickerington Cental (0-2) – North has a 3-point loss to St. Ignatius.  Central at 0-3 after this week?  What has happened to them?

Cincinnati Moeller (1-1) at Louisville, KY, Trinity (2-0) – Perhaps a great game in the making.  We will see.  Moeller lost 31-24 to a good Cincinnati Princeton team.  Meanwhile, Trinity is the squad that crushed Cincinnati Anderson, 55-13.  And last week they defeated Christian Brothers, MO, 52-21.

East Central, IN (2-0) at Cincinnati Elder (2-0) – Central doesn’t score much, but they also don’t give up much.  Elder, the favorite in the GMC this year, hopes to continue their run to the title game.  Last week the Panthers beat Covington Catholic, KY, 56-20.

Indianapolis Cathedral (0-2) at Cincinnati St. Xavier (1-1) – Normally strong Cathedral is not looking too good at this point in the season and desperately needs a win.  Then again, their two losses came against a couple of very good teams in Ben Davis (27-33) and Loyola Academy (19-33).  St. X defeated a hapless Wayne team and lost to West Chester Lakota (7-20).
