Freshmen Coaching Staff Bios

Ken Pryor – Head Coach.  Coach Pryor returns for his 8th year within the Massillon Tigers football program. This year marks his first as the lead man of the Freshman program.  Coach Pryor has been in the Massillon City Schools for 8 years. In that time he has served as freshman head baseball coach (5 yrs) and is now embarking on his second year with the varsity program alongside Coach Spike Ridgely.  Coach Pryor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in conjunction with an excitement to develop young men not only into winners on the field, but also into productive citizens in society. Ken has received his Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Ashland University and a Master’s Degree (MBA) from Walsh University. Coach Pryor has 3 children (Kaijah 1993-1999), Jonathan (31…Howard University Law 2019) and Austin 17 is a junior here at Massillon playing football, running track and he is a member of DECA and National Honor Society.  Go Tigers!

Derrick Mayle – Assistant Coach.  Coach Mayle will coach the freshman team and assist the JV and varsity programs with game day activities.  Coach Mayle began his coaching career more than 20 years ago as a youth coach and an OHSAA football and basketball official. He has been part of the Massillon City School District for the past 10 years, serving as a high school counselor as well as coaching soccer and bowling. Now, he returns to the football sidelines.  Coach Mayle earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Akron and a Master’s degree in School Counseling from Malone University.  Coach Mayle is looking forward to continuing his work guiding students and coaching, building strong relationships and developing student-athletes both on and off the field.  GO TIGERS!

Brock Vassel – Assistant Coach, Inside Linebackers and Tight Ends.  Coach Vassel spent last season coaching the wideouts for the Massillon 8th grade football team while also working with the varsity program on the equipment crew, gaining valuable experience with game day operations and the preparation that goes into Friday nights. Coach Vassel currently serves in the U.S. Navy as the local recruiter for the Massillon area. Through his work in the school and his conversations with Coach Moore about his long-term goal of transitioning from military service into college football coaching, he was given the opportunity to join the Tigers coaching staff. Brock is a Soldiers to Sidelines (STS) certified coach and a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). With only one semester remaining, by the start of the season he will have earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at Liberty University. He is passionate about developing young men both on the field and in life. Coach Vassel looks forward to contributing to the continued success and tradition of Massillon football.  GO TIGERS!

JaBron McGuire – Assistant Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Outside Linebackers, Running Backs.  Coach McGuire was a standout inside linebacker for GlenOak High School and Muskingum University. Coach McGuire previously has been coaching the inside and outside linebackers as well as the running backs for the 7th and 8th grade staff. McGuire served as the defensive coordinator for the 7th grade team last year. McGuire also worked on the north end of Paul Brown Tiger Stadium (section 20) for all 22 film. McGuire is from the Massillon area.  TIG

Robbie Page – Assistant Coach.  Coach Page is returning to the freshman coaching staff for his second year, bringing with him a strong understanding of the Massillon program’s rich tradition and deep-rooted pride. Having been a part of the program himself, he is committed to developing young athletes both on and off the field while upholding the standards that define Massillon football. Coach Page was a 5 year starter at Walsh University and a two year captain. Can’t wait for this upcoming season.  GO TIGERS !

Pierre Alati – Assistant Coach.  Coach Alati played high school football for Akron Garfield as a lineman from 2007 to 2011.  Last year he was an assistant coach Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.  He brings a wealth of knowledge from various youth and middle school teams in the Akron area. On the freshman level last year as an Offensive Coordinator at STVM he led the freshman to a record of 8-2 overall while averaging 30 plus points per game. This is Coach P’s 11th year coaching.  After high school he attended EMT school. He’s been employed by the USPS for 10 years. He is a father of two: Pierre Alati III(8) and Paisli Alati (4). Coach P also has a moving company called Pick up & Go which has been in operation for 5 years. He employs his current and former football players to show leadership, hard work and handyman skills. “I’m excited to be part of such a rich football tradition and I’m ready for this upcoming season!!
