1995 Booster Club President

Bob Marks

The 1995 season was full of exciting, closely contested games. In eight games, the outcome was settled by seven points or less. It was highlighted by Washington High School’s first win over Cincinnati Moeller 21-18. Other thrillers included a late drive against Youngstown Rayen for 26-21 win and a great comeback against Barberton at the Rubber Bowl which resulted in a 22-20 victory.

President Marks made half time presentations to Dr. Earl Lindsay, DVM who provided free medical care to the live tigers for many years, and to Luther Emery, former editor and sports editor of the Massillon INDEPENDENT. Luther’s coverage of the Tigers for decades and his service as publicity director of the Booster Club for many years resulted in the new east press box being named in his honor.

A highlight of the Booster Club year was the start of an effort to acquire land east and north of the stadium to greatly expand Washington High School’s athletic facilities and provide additional parking for stadium activities. A Land Acquisition Committee, chaired by Dick Bordner, was appointed to oversee this project.
