1990 Booster Club President

Don Wilton

A major Booster Club project was completed in 1990 with the opening of the new east press box facility. President Wilton provided strong leadership in this undertaking. The press box proved to be a marvelous addition to Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. A three story building, the top level provides 130 loge type seats from which the playing field can be viewed. The second floor consists of three large rooms which can be used for meetings, displays and other activities. Public rest rooms and maintenance facilities are included on the ground floor. As part of this project, the Band Booster concession stands for the east side of the stadium were relocated and replaced with new facilities.

Coach Lee Owens directed the team to a 7-3 regular season record. They made the playoffs and defeated Massillon Jackson High school in a first round game 21-15 before a large crowd at Canton’s Fawcett Stadium. The Tigers bowed out of the play-offs after losing to a strong Sandusky team 27-7 at the Rubber Bowl. Walt Bronczek was toastmaster at the annual football banquet which featured Coach Pete Cordelli of Kent State University as speaker. Coach Owens and President Wilton presented awards and recognized team members. Glen Weirich was introduced as next year’s Booster Club president.
