On December 15th, Bob Commings was named the new head football coach at the University of Iowa. This news came just one week prior to the annual WHS football banquet. As a result, the banquet was not only a tribute to the 1973 Tigers but it was also a farewell to one of the most dynamic coaches in Massillon’s long history. President Boerner had a most memorable and historic year He and his fellow officers arranged a great McKinley parade and rally. The Booster Club presented a huge autographed “500 Wins” sign to Washington High School at the banquet.
