2004 Booster Club President

Kevin Smith

2004 was a challenging year for Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club President Kevin Smith, for the club, and for the community.

The tragic accident which took the life of popular player Matt Dottavio and the sudden death of long-time strength coach Steve Studer were shocking events that set a somber tone for Smith’s year at the helm.

Although the season did not produce a winning record, President Smith said that his close relationship with coaches and players was an experience that he will long remember. He concluded: “the coming together of the staff and players as a locker room family was the real highlight of 2004.”

Kevin Smith was instrumental in introducing an innovative Sideliner program called “P.I.N.,” which stands for “People in Need.” The program provides special assistance to families with special needs due to circumstances beyond their control.

The “Tiger Moms” took a very active part in 2004. They helped with the feeding of the team, with the raising of dollars, and with the work for the pre-game tailgate party.
